Welcome to CrossFit Kent Island, the gateway to elite fitness on the Eastern Shore!
We offer individual and small-group CrossFit training for everyone on The Shore. Our membership is diverse, including competitive athletes, working parents, retirees looking for a fun workout, and even kids! The community of athletes that has been built since May 2012 at CrossFit Kent Island is a vibrant, enthusiastic bunch that is very welcoming to new members and their families.
Our training program follows the CrossFit prescription of “constantly varied functional movement, executed at high intensity,” and to do that, we focus our instruction on gymnastics (bodyweight movements, including work on the bars and rings), weightlifting, and conditioning exercises like running, rowing, and jumping. We combine these movements in varied but well-planned workouts so that over the course of time you will become proficient in everything, not just one segment of fitness.
Our culture is built on the principle that the pursuit of fitness should be fun, challenging, and rewarding for EVERYONE. To that end, we have added some specific programs to our class offering, in addition to our CrossFit group class:
CrossFit Kids combines gymnastics, body-weight calisthenics, and weightlifting elements in a fun way for kids ages 5-12. Children have a great opportunity to maximize their physical skills when exposed to this stimulus during years of peak development, and the elements are combined to keep children engaged and entertained, while teaching them proper movement mechanics and creating a broad athletic foundation. In our CrossFit Kids classes we pair fitness with fun, thus creating a lifelong love of health and fitness for our children.
Our “Oly” class meets once per week and focuses on learning and improving technique on the Clean & Jerk and Snatch. A skill-based warm-up is followed by a strength-building lifting session, all under the close supervision of our outstanding Weightlifting Coach, Jason.
Our Teens class aims to develop well-rounded athletes through a focus on strength, stamina, power, endurance and skill development. We regularly practice basic weightlifting and powerlifting movements with an emphasis on technique and slow progressions in weight in order to develop power and speed on the playing field. We climb ropes and practice handstands and other gymnastics to develop a high strength-to-weight ratio and increase body awareness. We run and row in short, fast intervals to increase our stamina so we can be the first ones to cross the finish line on race day.

Mobility work is infused into each CrossFit class, in our warm-ups as we get ready to move, and as post-workout recovery sessions. We also offer specific Mobility classes during the week and on the weekend in order to take a deep dive into any pain or range-of-motion problems you may be having.
